Rwanda Diplomatic Mission in the Sudan shall contribute to attainment of Rwanda's foreign policy by establishing and maintaining good relations with the Republic of the Sudan and to imaging Rwanda by creating relations in wealth creation through development cooperation, investment and tourism promotion.

Rwanda and the Republic of the Sudan have had good bilateral relations for many years. This relationship is benchmarked by diplomatic representation in both countries, since the opening of Rwanda's diplomatic mission in the Sudan in 2006, and in a reciprocal culture of relations, the Republic of Sudan opened an embassy in Kigali in September 2011.
The bilateral relations between the two countries is backed by a number of memorandum of understanding already signed. In March 2013, a Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) was signed between the two countries and since then Rwanda has ratified this agreement. Once this agreement is operationalized in the near future, it is supposed to help in increasing the required interactions between the two peoples as well as boosting businesses between the two countries. Also a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultation and Cooperation was signed between Sudan and Rwanda in 2017. More of such MoUs are under consideration for the mutual benefit of the citizens of both countries once implemented. Besides, we started realizing increased interest in business and investment between both countries.
There has also been exchange of high level government official visits and meetings for example, the President of Rwanda in December 2017, held a two-day working visit in Sudan . In the same vein, on September 26, 2019, while in New York for the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly, H.E President Paul Kagame had a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of the Sudan, H.E Dr. Abdallah Hamdouk and discussed bilateral relations between Rwanda and Sudan. On April 29-30, 2021 the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mariam Sadiq Al-Mahdi visited Rwanda as a Special Envoy and had a meeting with H.E Paul Kagame.
Rwanda and Sudan are both members of a number of following regional and continental blocs; African Union, ICGLR, COMESA, EAPCCO, Nile Basin Initiative (NBI), Africa’s longest river that brings together 10 upstream and downstream countries; Rwanda, Sudan, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, and other many platforms.
On the Security front, Rwanda has since 2005 deployed peacekeepers in Sudan’s Darfur region as part of the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) and before that, Rwanda was the first country to deploy peacekeepers in Sudan under AMIS.
A Private University the International University of Africa, has also since the 1970s been offering scholarships to Rwandan students undertaking different professions including Engineering, Medicine and Islamic studies.
